Elizabeth Kitto

After obtaining her PGCE, Elizabeth Kitto taught in secondary schools and led departments around the UK; trained resident and international teachers; and specialised in working with new arrivals to the British school system.

Her career gathered pace when she began working with UK counter-terrorism agencies to help young people vulnerable to terrorist grooming or who had been involved with terrorist cells. Elizabeth created and led government Prevent/EDI education training – discussing her findings at 10 Downing Street and with the Department for Education – while also writing regularly in the Times Educational Supplement and developing education programmes which were deemed ‘excellent’ by Home Office peer review.

Now freelance, she specialises in arts and sports projects which promote community cohesion, as well as lecturing (including recently at Goldsmiths, University of London) and delivering workshops for, among others, the Counter-Extremism Group and the Metropolitan Police’s youth counter-terrorism network.
