Claire Lyons

Claire is the Director and Deputy Head of a preparatory school in Lincoln. As SENCo and Mental Health Lead, she uses drama to support pupil wellbeing and enhance the curriculum. She maintains a passion for promoting the benefits of drama in the primary environment, working as a freelance consultant to offer training and guidance.

She has worked with national organisations to integrate theatrical experiences into the everyday lives of young people as well as with the Shakespeare Schools Foundation to pave the way for primary schools to be integrated in the international Shakespeare festival.

Her 25 years’ experience as both a leader in theatre in education and director of her own theatre school led her to work nationally and internationally promoting the benefits of theatre in education. She has worked across a diverse range of settings using drama as a tool to break down barriers to learning. She also has many years’ experience teaching LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and supported hundreds of young people in gaining grades 1-8.
