Caireen is head of education at the RNIB and a Qualified Teacher for Vision Impairment (QTVI) and Qualified Teacher of Multi-Sensory Impairment (QTMSI) with over 20 years’ experience in the field of SEND. She has previously worked in specialist settings, local authority sensory support services, for Sense, and as a freelance consultant. She is an experienced speaker and lecturer at both national and international conferences and events, presenting on her areas of skills, knowledge, and interest across sensory impairment.

Her passions include ensuring equal access to assessments for those with sensory impairment, improving use of technology to support students to achieve their potential, developing tactile learning skills, and optimising independence for children and young people with sensory impairments. Caireen’s drive to enable young people with vision impairment to be as independent as they can be is an essential part of the work driving the Curriculum Framework for Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (CFVI).
