Bex Bothwell-O'Hearn

Bex is an experienced history and politics teacher with a background in secondary and further education as well as SEN. They are a strong education professional with a Postgraduate Degree focused in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of Suffolk and have significant experience of working in a range of educational settings and phases. 

A teacher trainer and mentor for PGCE, SCITT, and ECTs, they are the founder of Suffolk DEI Network with a proven record of amplifying the work of others in the education sector and working with community groups. They are also a regular conference speaker, trainer and workshop host with specialism in DEI, with particular focus on curriculum development and LGBTQIA+ inclusion. 

They are passionate about ensuring that all learners see themselves reflected in the curriculum and that everyone feels a sense of belonging. Bex is skilled in setting up student forums and groups and advocating for student voice, and is a diversity champion, leading staff on diversifying the curriculum.

Bex is also an occasional writer and contributor on topics related to representation in education.
