Ben Beer
Ben is a leading expert in education welfare, particularly safeguarding, behaviour and barriers to learning. Through The Safeguarding Group, Ben works with schools, colleges, trusts and organisations to support and develop their welfare structure, practice and strategy.
For more than 15 years, Ben has worked with a wide range of organisations, including Police, Youth Justice Teams, Colleges, Multi-Academy Trusts and Local Authorities. Aside from consultancy and training, Ben is a teacher, School Governor and Chair of Trustees of an education charity.
Ben is currently working with a number of multi-academy trusts around their trust-level safeguarding arrangements and with colleges across the UK on issues including organisational culture and understanding contextual safeguarding. Ben is an independent chair of MAT Safeguarding Forums and The Safeguarding Group is commissioned to provide annual external safeguarding quality assurance, support and practice supervision for organisations and schools nationally.
Prior to leading The Safeguarding Group, Ben was responsible for Education in a busy Local Authority’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, an Advanced Practitioner specialising in Behaviour for Learning in a large FE College, and an Education Coordinator for Kent’s Youth Justice Service.
