New ‘Keeping children safe in education’ guidance has been published and became statutory from 1 September 2023.

Keeping children safe in education requires all schools to teach online safety as part of a ‘broad and balanced curriculum.’ They must teach online safety as part of national curriculum requirements, including relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education, and should ensure children of all ages understand how to stay safe and behave online.

Developed by Heather Cardwell, experienced online safety lead and senior school leader, this course provides you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to embed online safety into the curriculum in line with statutory and recommended DfE requirements.

Please note: This course consists of learning through video, task completion, and further reading/research. Please consider this when planning and allocating your time. To successfully understand and achieve the objectives of the course, learners are expected to engage in all aspects of the learning process to ensure they can successfully apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in their own settings.
