New ‘Keeping children safe in education’ guidance has been published and will become statutory from 1 September 2023.

RSHE/PSHE leads and staff responsible for delivering the RSHE curriculum should receive high-quality training as part of a whole-school approach to addressing sexual harassment and online sexual abuse. They should also develop a carefully sequenced RSHE curriculum that specifically includes sexual harassment, sexual violence, and online sexual abuse to support a culture of zero tolerance so that issues and interventions can be identified early.

Developed by Lorna Ponambalum, a safeguarding expert and senior leader, this course provides you with the core content you need to understand your statutory safeguarding requirements around sexual harassment and sexual violence in schools and colleges.

Please note: The course consists of learning through video, task completion, and further reading/research. Please consider this when planning and allocating your time. To successfully understand and achieve the objectives of the course, learners are expected to engage in all aspects of the learning process and complete all relevant activities to ensure they can successfully apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in their own settings.
