Staff members must not be under the influence of alcohol or any other substance which may affect their ability to care for children and young people. However, it’s important that all staff are aware of the legislation governing medication within the workplace as well as understand best practices relating to storage and self-administration to ensure that the welfare of children and young people in their care is not impacted.
