Fabricated or induced illness is a rare form of child abuse. It is a result of parental actions, behaviours or beliefs and doctors’ responses to these. It is essential that those working within education settings can identify the indicators of this type of abuse and are confident in reporting their concerns to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in their care.

Developed by Elizabeth Rose, experienced safeguarding specialist, consultant, and local authority safeguarding in education adviser, this online training course on understanding and responding to fabricated and induced illnesses will provide you with the knowledge and skills to identify when a child may be suffering from this complex form of child abuse and understand the best course of action to take.
