Belief in witchcraft, spirit possession and other forms of the supernatural can lead to children being blamed for bad luck, and subsequently abused. Beliefs that enable the practices of abuse linked to faith, belief or superstition are not linked to one faith, nationality, or community, therefore it is vital that those working with children and young people have an awareness of the warning signs and understand what actions to take in relation to this abuse.
