Wilmington Academy aims to be an outstanding learning community where everyone feels valued. The academy places high importance on providing tailored professional development opportunities for all roles and responsibilities in the school workforce.

Ross Butler, Assistant Principal, joined us to discuss how the academy has benefitted from gaining access to over 2,600 webinars, courses and resources, delivered by world-leading experts, via our One Platform membership.

Tailored professional development opportunities for all staff

Ross explained the academy’s plans: “What we are looking to do with The National College is to streamline our professional development programme.”

“We want to use your training and resources to complement the opportunities that we offer within the trust,” he added.

“At the moment, we are directing members of staff to relevant training for their role. They complete the training, gain their certificate, and can put what they have learned into practice.”

“We really want to start maximising our use of the platform and making sure that we are making most of the resources available,” he added.

Our platform allows leaders to log training in one place and makes evidencing whole-school professional development simple and hassle-free.

Ross continued: “It allows us to have every member of staff on one platform. They can access anything that fits their needs.”

“Instead of it being a one-size-fits-all approach, they can explore their own interests and find new areas of development,” he confirmed.

State-of-the-art professional development platform

With a One Platform membership, leaders can organise and adjust user groups and watch lists to deliver more personalised training for all staff.

Ross stated: “The platform is very easy to navigate too.”

“It’s a lot more bespoke than anything I’ve used before, which is helpful.”

He added: “I have just downloaded an introduction to using dashboards and user groups, which will be really helpful.”

“We want to be able to use the platform more effectively by making use of the features available on the admin side of things,” he added.

Positive feedback from all staff

Staff feedback has been overwhelmingly positive when it comes to The National College.

Ross said: “All of the staff are really positive in their response to the training.”

"We always get a positive response and staff find great value in the training from The National College".

“We use the teaching and learning category a lot, and the SEND category too.”

Ross added: “We are looking to explore the rest of the categories too, and support staff where we can with what is available on the platform.”
