Case Study:
Davenant Foundation School
Davenant Foundation School provide secondary education for students in Loughton, Essex.
Last year they were searching for a new CPD supplier so that they could roll out expert-led training across the school; from senior leaders through to teaching staff.
They subsequently chose to join The National College and became members of our Whole School Membership programme.
Saving time and money through online CPD
Before joining, Davenant were impressed by the economic, as well as educational, benefits that The National College had to offer.
David Parker, Assistant Headteacher & Director of Initial Teacher Training at Davenant Foundation School said: “Our school is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive on the edge of London. We are “outstanding” and high achieving. I am the Assistant Headteacher in charge of T&L, CPD, NQT and ITT at the school.
“We chose The National College, because the package offered was good value and we were looking for an alternative delivery method. The resources are cost effective and flexible.”
Meeting mandatory learning requirements
All staff have had the opportunity to enhance their own personal development, as well as keeping up to date with the latest statutory requirements and policy changes.
“We have used a wide variety of your videos – some we made mandatory viewing and asked the staff to complete Google Forms to evidence their understanding,” Mr Parker revealed.
“We also gave staff the option of choosing some videos dependent on their own needs and interests.
“The support we received from the National College has always been prompt and useful. This year the resources have been very useful indeed – the cornerstone of our CPD offer.”
A better work life balance
Because our platform is 100% remote, Davenant Foundation School haven’t encountered issues around arranging supply cover in the event of staff training days.
Also, staff have relished the chance to improve their work life balance, with the ability to undertake training at any time, anywhere, on any device.
Mr Parker explained: “This (undertaking training on an online platform) has been a vital part of our move towards more flexible working and a better work life balance.
“Not having to arrange supply cover has been one of the biggest benefits of The National College offer.”
